It's unfathomable living as an amnesiac with extraordinary abilities that unfortunately have you labeled as touched. Amitiel has lived most of her life confined at Stryker Memorial Hospital. Despite her very real flashbacks, Ami has been repeatedly told the visions from her past were illusory. When she crosses paths with a mysterious young man and finally learns her true identity it should be a welcomed relief, but Ami quickly finds out that reality isn't all it's cracked up to be.
In Chosen, old friends reunite to face a battle that will influence Heaven, Hell and our world caught inbetween.

3.5 starsAndrea Lynn Ford's Chosen is an intriguing debut by a promising new author whom I think will get even better with time. I have to admit, I was a little worried during the first few pages, since the opening scene contains a few descriptions and phrases that reminded me of the beginning of Twilight. I wasn't quite sure whether the author did this intentionally, paying homage to the book that's inspired an entire genre of paranormal romance, or whether she was playing with our expectations a bit...but in any case, I was very happy when the story quickly moved along into something unique!
I was really interested by the psychiatric ward setting of the first portion of the novel, and by the fact that our protagonist, Amitiel, grew up almost entirely in a psych ward. I thought this was very realistically handled, especially considering what we later learn about Ami's guardian. In fact, I could have even read a bit more about Ami's life as a teenage girl on the ward.
However, Chosen is an angel book, and circumstances soon force Ami to remember her true self and her true purpose. It's not much of a spoiler to say that Ami is an angel, since she learns this pretty early on, and is actually very accepting compared to the way many YA heroines react to this sort of revelation. I really appreciated the author's decision to have Ami immediately reclaim her memories and her old identity, so we didn't have to go through pages and pages of this can't be true, am I really an angel?, I don't believe this the way so many of these books do! At the same time, though, I must admit I missed the more immature, teenage Ami we were introduced to at the beginning of the book, and it might have been interesting to see more of a struggle between her angel and human selves.
The author has clearly done her research into angelic lore, and I liked that she focuses on some of the less commonly known angels. I also appreciated the ways she changed the lore and made it her own--I found her vision of Hell particularly interesting! The romance was sweet, as was the almost mother/daughter-like relationship between Ami and Temperance. The ending wasn't what I expected, and I loved the beautiful imagery of the final scene--it's an ending that still feels vivid in my mind a few days later!

Chosen eBook Andrea Lynn Ford Reviews
This was very well written and easy to follow. I enjoyed how it made me feel like I was in the moment with all of the characters. The description and layout of where, how they looked and how the charters were feeling kept me wanting to know what happened next chapter after chapter and how it would ultimately end.Two thumbs up!!!
This story was not a smooth start, it seemed a little disjointed at first but give it a chance because it gets way better. I would never have guessed in the beginning where the story was taking me. Not the kind of story I usually read but I did find it pulled me along. The characters were well developed and I found myself visualizing the story as i read. Another thing about the story, it is written in 3 separate sections and that threw me off a little after the first section because I thought i was at the end but I wasn't, again wound up being OK.
This is my very first book review so I'm sorry if its not enough information for future readers, don't want to spoil it!
Loved this book.....it was a wonderful love story and enveloped you very quickly. Put together nicely and a great ending....defiantly recommend this one!!
I loved reading this book. The story line was great, and everytime I put it down I wanted to go back to read more. The characters were very descriptive.
Title says it all. Unsure if just bad editing or badly written. Just basic things like no markers around dialogue (which doesn't flow) and other grammatical things that annoyed me. Plot didn't develop the way I thought it would either. The heroine was entirely too quick to accept something which would send most people into a bit of a quandary. Didn't rate it!
What an enjoyable read! Chosen was an imaginative journey through heaven, hell and earth. I felt like I was able to get to know the characters and imagine every step of their way. This book paints a unique picture of heaven and hell and allows you to question - and even reaffirm - faith in something higher. Enjoyable love story - Highly recommend this book.
Enjoyed the story line. I was a bit disappointed when I first started reading because it started out about a girl in the psych ward so I automatically assumed that it would be about a schizophrenic girl caught between heaven and hell "in her mind" but I was pleasantly surprised with the way it turned out. Loved the characters in the book. It made the characters very personable. The only thing was that the book had quite a bit of typos. But overall the book was great.
